Many artists have moments, days, periods of self doubt, emotions during key process part’s of a painting,  or just need a little boost. I needed such a boost so took a risk and submitted a piece to  "Heartwork" a collaboration of the Vancouver Foundation and the East Side Culture Crawl. These are two wonderful organizations making a big difference to community.

I was thrilled to learn today that my painting "In My Heart" was chosen as the winner and selected painting.  I had submitted this painting in recognition and support for those further challenged in these times by isolation and discrimination due to mental health issues.

We're excited to share the winning 'heartwork', selected by Connie Sabo. There were so many outstanding submissions among the @culturecrawl community, and we truly appreciate the time and effort put forth to submit your work and share what's in your heart. Now, for the winner… ⠀⠀ Congratulations to @meade52 for being selected as the winning submission for our 'heartwork' collaboration with @culturecrawl! Paddy will be honoured with a donation of $50,000 made in her name to the @vancouverfdn Community Response Fund. #TheEastSideCultureCrawl

I am honoured to have my painting selected. A wonderful recognition I will use as a boost to paint on. More importantly the collaboration will honour me with a donation of $50,000 made in my name to the Vancouver Foundation Community Response Fund. So honoured the community and individuals are the winners.

So yup, “then this happened”
